The Chequers Inn is situated in the heart of 1066 Country, exactly
at the half-way point of the 1066 Walk. It is close to local attractions
of historical Battle Abbey, Battle of Hastings battlefield and Yesterdays
World with numerous nearby woodland walks. Just a few miles away
are the Cinque Ports towns of Hastings and Rye, both easily reached
by bus or rail - the train station and local bus services are both
nearby.
The Chequers Inn is 17th Century with original features including
a large inglenook in the restaurant. The pub boasts a good selection
of CAMRA award winning ales, locally produced organic wines and
fruit juice from the local Sedlescombe vineyard. Other beverages
including a selection of coffee and speciality teas are available.
The Chequers Inn is cosy family friendly, family run public house
and restaurant. Your hosts Derek and Julie together with their excellent
staff look forward to welcoming you whether it’s for a drink
or a meal.
The pub serves a wide variety of high quality bar snacks and restaurant
quality food with daily changing specials as well as a good range
of traditional favourites and boasts an excellent daily fish menu.
The pub is situated on the A2100 with its own private car park
for customer use, beer garden, heated patio area and Boules pitch.
